Can I drive my vehicle to the GA Georgia inspection location?

Yes, If your vehicle holds a REBUILT title from another state and is currently registered with tags, then you are permitted to drive it to the inspection location.

No, If your vehicle has a SALVAGE title, it is not allowed to be driven until it successfully passes the GA inspection and is officially registered with the state.

What documents do I need if my vehicle has a Rebuilt or Out of State Rebuilt Title?

Required documents for an Out of State rebuilt title are Original Rebuilt Title, GA Driver License, MV-1 & T129.

What is the purpose of the T-129 (Labor & Parts Certification) if no repairs or parts replacement were done on the vehicle?

This document is necessary as per state regulations. If no parts were utilized in the repair process, simply indicate that in the designated box. However, if you bought the vehicle in a repaired condition, make sure to include the name of the individual who sold it to you in the specified section at the bottom of the form.

Why is a GA Salvage Inspection necessary even if my vehicle has already passed an inspection in another state?

Every state has different standards of establishing if a vehicle is deemed road worthy. Georgia requires a full safety and structural inspection on any vehicle with a history of salvage, rebuilt, flood, court order and several other circumstances. 

What if I have a salvage title but no receipts or pictures because I purchased in repaired condition

A title that has not yet been REBUILT requires pictures in it's pre-repaired condition and all receipts for parts or repairs that were done to the vehicle.  If you do not have these, You may be required to get a Title Bond. 

What if I don't have a Title?

You will need to have the original title (no photocopy) or a Court Order along with a completed T-22B form as a substitute for the title.

Can I repair a vehicle even if I am not a licensed rebuilder?

It is not necessary to be a licensed rebuilder to repair a vehicle. Individuals are allowed to repair and register up to two salvage or rebuilt vehicles per year.
