Do you need to replace your SRS Impact Sensors, but aren’t really sure how to go about it? Luckily, replacing damaged airbag sensors isn’t very difficult and can be done if you follow a few simple instructions.
Disconnect the Battery
The very first thing you need to do is disconnect the negative charge from the car battery. Once you have done this, wait about 5-10 minutes for the charge to leave the airbag system so that you don’t risk getting electrocuted. If you want to check to make sure that the charge has left the vehicle, you can try to turn on the lights to see if they are still getting power.
Locate the Sensor
These are usually located in the front of most vehicles; your vehicle's user manual can tell you exactly where it is located for your specific make, model, and year.
Disconnect The Sensor
Since you already disconnected the battery, you can remove the sensor since no electric charge is going through your SRS system
Install the New Sensor
Once you have repaired or received a new sensor, you can swap out the parts.
